You are absolutely right Andy. They are focussed an we are just bystanders looking for a nice photo opportunity.
I've even heard some triathletes say that a gentle rain can feel quite welcome.

Great photos! You'd never know it by looking at me, but I used to be a runner, and usually welcomed the rain. A light and refreshing rain is great, a downpour, not so much...
